For Our Baby Boy

At 36 weeks pregnant, Aaron and I made a cast of my belly. It was really fun and I've gotten some great ideas to decorate the cast. We're going to hang it in our bedroom with some ribbon, but we also wrote a poem to Cooper that we're going to print on linen paper and modge podge onto the belly of the cast. This was the poem we wrote together for Coop...

Mommy and Daddy have sat anticipating

The day of your birth when all will be celebrating

You are on your way to make a debut

When our special family will start anew

Mommy just knows how sweet you will be

Because all she ate were cookies and ice cream

You grew so fast and altered the plan

Now, Daddy believes you’ll be a lineman

We already see what a perfect blend you are

You’re full of energy like Dad and have Mom’s bleeding heart

We tidied the nursery MiMi helped paint

Mommy cleaned everything without a complaint

We worried and schemed like any first-time parents

Dad took on extra jobs to prepare for an infant

Three little dachshunds knew something was up

It was hard not to notice Mom’s belly was stuffed

Mommy and Dad were so very proud

We shared your adventures with our students aloud

You might be a writer, a football player, a preacher

A policeman like Grandpa or even a teacher

You could be short or tall, blonde or brunette

It’s such a surprise and still better yet

You are already loved, that is, to say the least

Once you arrive our family will be a blessed masterpiece
